At the beginning of this football season I asked a young man located in Scotland to offer myself and members of VG Tips football tips for matches played north of the border.
I didn’t pick someone at random. I have been following Robert Ryan on Twitter for a few years. I noticed how good a punter he was on football in Scotland and in England. Clearly Robert loves his football and has a keen eye when it comes to spotting value in the betting market.
So I asked him to come on board and offer his own betting selections for matches in Scotland. After all, knowledge is power and Robert is clearly knowledgeable about football across all four divisions in Scotland.
He had a great first week of tips back in August and on the final weekend of September all seven of his tips to subscribers won. A magnificent 7. Well done, Robert. A superb performance.
For the record, he tipped wins for Hamilton (at 11/5), Motherwell (6/4), Raith Rovers (6/4) and a 2.5/1 win double for games involving Edinburgh City and Cowdenbeath. Both teams to score in a match is a popular football bet these days. Even though such an outcome can be priced odds on, all profit is good profit and Robert tipped BTTS in the games between Hibs and Celtic (4/5), Partick Thistle v Inverness (37/50) and Dundee versus Queen of the South (4/5).
7 football tips in Scotland. 7 winners for members of VG Tips Take a bow, Robert Ryan.
He put me to shame. All I could do was come up with winning football tips such as Nottingham Forest to win at odds of 11/5, Wycombe Wanderers at odds of 6/4 to beat the tired legs of Rochdale footballers who had, only a few days earlier, taken Manchester United stars to a penalty shoot out. Peterborough won for us at odds of 4/7, as did high flying Ipswich Town.
The Under/Over goals market is something I am acquiring a taste for. Not as reliable a bet as both teams to score, but still worth considering. On Saturday I offered two games in which I believed there would be under 2.5 goals. The matches between Crystal Palace and Norwich and the clash between Watford and Wolves. As I told members when sending out my deep analysis and tips on Thursday, this bet had paid out on 63% of matches involving Wolves last season, and four out of six this campaign. Make that five out of seven.
My final football tip involved the Leicester City versus Newcastle United match. I tipped Leicester to win at odds of 8/15. Easy winnings. Leicester beat one of my pre-season tips for relegation, Newcastle United, 5-0.
I love betting on football. As do many subscribers to my long established and regular selections service. Member Alun e-mailed me to congratulate and thank Robert for his Scottish football tips. Alun had a 393/1 winning accumulator comprising of 8 matches. Well done, Alun.
