AL FEROF won for members of my selections service today at odds of 8-1. One of two Paul Nicholls trained horses to deliver us some profit on a classy day of racing. There were five winners for us on Saturday.
It was the first time champion trainer Paul Nicholls has sent out the winner of the Paddy Power Gold Cup. But then, as those of you who read his thoughts via this site earlier today will have noticed, he did have a good feeling about the horse.
He said before the race: “He will have progressed too for a summer’s break and track, trip and ground won’t be any issue. Has to be running well here off this mark if he is as good as we think he is. And his work on Thursday morning was the best that I have seen him do here.”
Prior to today’s race Al Ferof was as big as 16-1 to win the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March. Now bookies have him at only 7-1. Those who took the 16-1 ante post price will be hopeful of a repeat performance in the Spring.
For, as jockey Ruby Walsh said: “Form is temporary, class is permanent.”
And Ruby is all class.
He won the first race of the day on another of my tips, Far West.
Another odds against winning selection offered to members and a winner at an SP price of 15-8. And another winner for Paul Nicholls. The trainer did say earlier that “it would take something special to beat Far West.”
The profitable punts Saturday were:- Al Ferof 8-1, Noble Legend 9-4, Far West 15-8, Farraaj 7-4 and Up and Go 1-3
There’s a bonus day of selections tomorrow, Sunday. Usually a day off for me but there is some good racing again at Cheltenham. Albeit that the ground is cut up and we are looking for horses that are mudlarks.
