Watch Sottsass win the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe

The make up of the 2020 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe changed considerably in the days before the race took place at Longchamp.

First Love was withdrawn from the race. Trainer Aidan O’Brien believed the ground would be too soft for his filly. Then, just the day before the race last Sunday, O’Brien’s Ballydoyle operation had to withdraw all the other horses trained by him and his sons Donnacha and Joseph. There was a scare over a batch of infected horse feed.

It all led to the race being run at a slower pace than would otherwise have been the case. The first four places were filled with home grown French trained horses. Sottsass being a very worthy winner of a race that was more intriguing than exciting and which lost something due to the absentees. Watch the race from start to finish below.
