The form of the Aidan O'Brien stable goes from strength to strength. I did consider suggesting to members that they back Rhodendron and Hydrangea as a 1-2 straight forecast on Friday. Member David tells me he did precisely that. Will done that man!
I tipped Rhodendron to win and an each way saver on stablemate Hydrangea. The odds when selected were 9/2 and 6/1 respectively, so it was profit all round in that race.
Earlier, Mrs Danvers proved to be as classy as thought and took a step up in class in her stride to win . . .

While we have some top grade feature races to look forward to on Saturday, it's clear from Friday's cards that some horses have run their best race of the season as we approach what is the fag end of the flat season proper.
There are lots of seasoned, respectable horses racing on Friday but you cannot help but suspect their best performances are behind them - at least until May 2017.
But the quantity of big field handicaps offer myself and any fellow each way backers the opportunity to bet on a few at double figure prices. They may . . .

I spent a very wet but profitable Friday at York. It's always good to begin the day with a winner and, as with Stormy Clouds on Thursday, my opening fancy on Friday duly delivered. I was pleasantly surprised that the 11/2 and 5/1 available online the night before was also available on course come the day. I duly took advantage.
What lesson are we reminded of by Stormy Clouds and Barsanti? If they are dropping back down in grade of race, having performed with credit at a higher level, sit up and take notice.
Nemoralia was another . . .

Stormy Clouds won for members at odds of 10/1 and 9/1. It reassuring that so many of them have learned how to read my analysis to gauge my confidence about any one selection.
I really fancied that Richard Hannon trained winner in the opening race on Thursday. Sometimes the form book does not lie. The third place finish behind our recent winner Mrs Danvers was a good piece of form and the drop in grade today ensured that Stormy Clouds won with something to spare.
It will look stormy at York on Friday. Heavy rain is forecast from . . .

Postponed made it six wins from the last six outings on Wednesday. The form of that race looks strong, with Highland Reel finishing well in second place.
Wings of Desire was hugely disappointing and it's hard to see that one going forward to the St.Leger at Doncaster next month. That means Idaho - which won well for us on Wednesday - the hot favourite for that last big Group 1 race of the domestic flat season.
Best of Days ran green second time out on the day and was just beaten at the line by a 16/1 outsider, so . . .

It was 1980 that I first attended the prestigous Ebor meeting on the beautiful Knavesmire racecourse at York. It remains my favourite course for flat racing.
The 2016 Ebor meeting begins on Wednesday. At a time when trainers and owners are ever more choosy about where they send their horses, it is a credit to those who run York that so many top class horses are booked to appear at the course between Wednesday and Saturday.
I shall have selections for each day of the meeting, beginning on Wednesday.
