International games in midweek did deliver me one very nice win. I took the price of 10/3 offered by William Hill about the Republic of Ireland winning in Austria.
Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane have continued to improve the Irish squad. They are a much better side than the one I saw play live a couple of years ago.
They are looking good and performing well. Their World Cup qualifying match at home against Wales next March looks like being a very important tie for both countries.

England play Scotland on Friday night. A match that has always had special meaning for supporters of both countries . I was there - at the old Wembley - when Scottish fans tore down the goalposts and swung from the crossbar.
