  • So here we are. They think it's all over. It very nearly is.

I've heard or read some people say this Euro 2016 tournament has been "crap." I don't agree. I have seen far worse tournaments.

Perhaps I am looking at it too much from a betting perspective. On that front, I have very much enjoyed it. Especially the latter stages. The first games are always cautious affairs. But I have enjoyed watching the more recent games, regardless of whether or not I had money on the outcome.

I could not find one redeeming feature about that performance, or the tactics employed by Roy Hodgson. He had no choice but to resign.

    But now that's out of . . .

So Wales played with pride, defied the critics who gave them no hope, their supporters were a credit to the country and - as predicted - their talisman Gareth Bale scored. At 13/8 and 6/5 he was the first winning match bet for me of this tournament and one I felt confident would pay off.

I toyed with betting on him to score first at odds of 4/1. Some VG Tips members did that, the clever people! But i decided to play safe and simply up my stakes and bet on him to score at any stage. It took . . .
