  • It's painful when one you really fancy is beaten by a head. I had a good feeling about the Irish trained Pairofbrowneyes and to be caught on the line was a great shame but, once again, proof that sometimes it is wise to play safe and be on each way even if the price is as short as 13/2.

    Well backed into 4/1 on the day, I was relieved to get my stake back along with a tiny bit of profit. It eased the pain a little when watching him beaten at the death.

  • Don't you just hate it when your horse is leading but then falls at the final fence? That was the fate that befell our 7/2 fancy Southfield Theatre on Saturday. But the Paul Nicholls horse is reported to be none the worse for the tumble, and that's all that matters.

    Long time members will recall the day that I was on two at good each way prices as they both approached the final fence well clear of the rest. I wanted the bigger price of the two to win, ideally, but didn't care too much as . . .
