Un Temps Pour Tout a 16/1 winner for members of VG TIPS

What a day of profitable punting! Day one of the Cheltenham Festival and winners at 16/1, 5/2, 11/10 and profitable each way placed punts at 12/1 and 9/1.

A memorable first day that ranks with the same day in 2012. Profit punting from five of the six races I analysed and in which I offered members selections.

Some people underestimate how tough it is to make profit at the Cheltenham Festival. Not just picking winners. But simply making profit.

The big win was on the 16/1 selection Un Temps Pour Tout in the Grade 3 Ultima Handicap Chase. A winner for trainer David Pipe. I had a good feeling about that one and watched him closely throughout the race. He looked to be going well all the way and was steered clear of trouble by the likeable jockey Tom Scudamore.

I offered members two each way tips in that race and they came home first and second. Holywell raced superbly in second and returned further profit at odds of 9/1. When that pair broke clear of the rest in the home straight, I was smiling. Only a fall at the last, or interference from a loose horse, could spoil the day. No such problem.

Un Temps Pour Tout won in fine style and Holywell raced well in second place. Profit on a 16/1 winner (the SP was only 11/1) and profit on the runner up at 9/1.

Then there was the Ruby factor. Vroum Vroum Mag was hugely impressive and a value NAP winner for members when priced at 11/10 yesterday. The SP price was an odds on one. I had that in a 2/1 double with the most predictable winner of the day, Douvan.

Then there was the winner that reduced the jockey Ruby Walsh, and owner Rich Ricci, to tears. I thoroughly enjoyed cheering Annie Power to victory at what was a great price of 5/2.

Late in the day Double Shuffle, tipped up to members at 12/1, finished third and so returned further each way profit on the day.

Not every day at the races can be like that. Especially so when the racing at Cheltenham is so very competitive. But when such days come along my members are very happy and, therefore, so am I.

New member Alan joined VG TIPS at the right time. He has just messaged me to say: “Great selections today. Certainly a great start to the festival and a great start for my betting bank too.”
