We had three good priced winners at the races on the Saturday before Christmas and 6 winning football bets at the weekend.
Reve de Sivola was a 5-1 bet when I gave members my views on that race at Ascot and stated why I was opposing the short priced favourite Smad Place.
Reve de Sivola won by 14 lengths. I was not surprised by the win. Only that other people were surprised.
Here is what I told members the night before the race:- “The one I think may be a threat to Smad Place is Reve de Sivola. A 9 length second behind Big Buck’s on the first day of this month, Reve de Sivola is a proven winner at this level and will not mind the heavy ground.”
Ridden prominently from the off by jockey Richard Johnson, the Nick Williams trained gelding won comfortably and impressively. Smad Place was a distant second.
The other winners on Saturday were Sofi’s Spirit, who won her fourth consecutive race at an SP price of 5-2 and the Paul Nicholls trained Ulck Du Lin also won for members. That one was available at 7-4 when tipped, but came past the post first at a much shorter price.
The rain saw lots of lower league football games postponed, but we still had 6 winning football bets. Wins for Newcastle at 23-20, Cardiff City at 29-10, Sheffield United at 19-10 and Arsenal at 3-4. Plus I tipped up two Premiership games in which I fancied both teams to score. Those bets also returned profit as West Brom and Norwich shared three goals at odds of 8-11 and, at even better odds, West Ham and Everton both scored at a price of 10-11.
So, in all, nine winning bets for members of VG TIPS this weekend.
The next tips for racing and football will be on Boxing Day, December 26th.
