Last weekend we enjoyed winners on Champions Day. Stradivarius (Evens), Roaring Lion (5/2) and Cracksman (5/6) all delivered returns at short prices.
Harry Angel, a 6/1 each way selection, finished second and has now - like Cracksman - been retired to stud. Thanks for the memories.
The one that got away last weekend, and about which I have been kicking myself ever since, was Sharja Bridge. Heaven knows I wrote so glowingly about the then 16/1 runner in the Balmoral Handicap. I should have offered two each way bets in that race, including that eventual well backed 8 . . .
