It's that week when, for me at least, the past flat season crosses over with the new turf jumps season proper.
Much of the flat racing at this time of the year is made up of colts and fillies racing for the first time. I missed one on Wednesday. I kicked myself at not seeing that the Richard Hughes trained newcomer called Brentford Hope was racing.
After all, on October 12th, I had highlighted to members of VG Tips that this first time out son of Camelot might be a bit special at Goodwood the following day. That meeting . . .
