A headwind of between 30 and 40 mph is going to play a part in the outcome of all the races today. The horses will get cover from the stands in the latter part of the races, but front running horses will not be able to grab as big a lead as they may be used to if the wind is as strong into their faces as the forecast suggests it will be.
Then there is the anticipated rainfall, on ground already described as soft. These races will not be to the liking of contenders who, to quote Colonel Jones . . .
