I was getting a little concerned when the day at Newmarket began with a bout of 'Seconditus.' Gavota having to make do with a runner up finish, beaten by a 25/1 outsider whose jockey had the common sense to race against the rail. That ensured he won the race while Gavota, out in the middle of the track, wandered.
Sound and Silence had earlier also finished second, narrowly beaten by Abel Handy.
But all came good when my 11/1 tip, Laurens, won the high profile Group 1 Fillies' Mile, just beating September. The pre race favourite, Happily, was . . .
