What a pity that the ground conditions led to trainer John Gosden withdrawing the two stars he had set to race on Thursday, So Mi Dar and Cracksman.
Taking Cracksman to the Derby at Epsom next month on the back of only a couple of runs is a high risk strategy. His absence left it open for Permian to win the Dante Stakes at York at a great price of 10/1. I really should have tipped that one each way.
There was very little between Cracksman and Permian when the former beat the latter at Epsom last month. Cracksman . . .
