So the Oaks is over for another year and the filly Enable - a tip from me when only third the previous outing - duly won, and won well. No excuses. She stayed the distance. Rhododendron didn't. The heavily backed favourite could only finish second. So the bookies won that race - and do we not like that?The heavens opened as the Oaks began and a thunderclap scared the horses. We'll have to see on the day if the rain makes any significant difference to the going on Saturday.
Now attention turns to the Classic of all domestic classic flat . . .
