A fellow wise and long term punter tweeted on Thursday that you should steer clear of backing short priced favourites in early season jumps races. He's right. Many of those horses are racing for the first time for several months and are racing simply to get back in the groove. They may well win, but you would be foolish to back them to do so at an odds on price.
On Friday there are several such horses racing in very small field races down at Wincanton. And there are some terrible or trappy races elsewhere, such as at Fakenham . . .
