Midweek racing these days is rarely attractive. Outside of the big feature meetings, there can be little to entice you to go racing.
Big field handicaps are also fewer in number than they once were. So, when you come across a Wednesday that includes some larger field, competitive looking handicaps, I sit up and take notice.
At Newbury on Wednesday, the two align and so I have taken time to look at the racecards this midweek, notably at Newbury.
17 go to post for a Class 4 maiden hurdle but, sadly, bookies will only return each . . .
