Racing at Ludlow was abandoned on Wednesday due to fog and frost. Those who run the course had hoped the fog would lift, so left the decision late. That will have been a nuisance for the trainers who sent their horses to the racecourse.
So much work goes into preparing horses on a day of racing. The stable staff are up bright and early and it's not simply a matter of putting the horse in its box and taking to the road. But at least Ludlow made the right decision. Eventually.
At Haydock, meanwhile, the clerk of the course . . .
