The great city of Liverpool will be busy this weekend.
On Saturday it will be packed for the Grand National - a race for which I have tipped the winner each of the past three years.
But the three day meeting as a whole is a very good one. Often in the shadow of the Cheltenham Festival in March, the Aintree meeting deserves more attention and plaudits.
The fences at Aintree remain testing. They may have been made safer in recent years, and rightly so. But they are still a test of jumping and it's always worth looking out for . . .
