Those who watched racing on Tuesday witnessed the best and worst of the sport.
Paul Nicholls made a short journey to Taunton and picked up some easy, good prize money. Especially so on our winner, Virak.
Meanwhile, at Southwell, spectators watched Turnbuckle cross the line as a winner at Southwell, only for the horse to break down when coming past the post. The horse had to be put down and I can only imagine the contrasting emotions experienced within seconds by trainer, Mark Johnston, and the stable lad or lass who looked after him.
