Douvan proved to be very bit as good as people thought when winning impressively at Punchestown on Tuesday.
Yes, the price was ridiculously short. But bookies are businessman, not people who offer charitable handouts. Douvan is clearly one of the best of the bunch at the moment and will be well gambled on for big races in 2016.
Not that horses which impress one year always go on to do so the next. Look at Champagne Fever. A 16/1 winner for us at the Cheltenham Festival in March of 2012. Watching the Willie Mullins grey race so lazily today . . .
