We all make mistakes. I do. Weekly. And so do you. Sometimes we pick the wrong horse. But it's not always our fault, is it?
Jockeys also make mistakes. But then they have to make a decision in a split second.
On Saturday Richard Hughes, champion jockey, first tried to ride Night of Thunder on the inside rail. Then when that looked to be difficult, he switched his horse to the outside and hoped a gap would open. They often do. And when the gap opens, no jockey is better at producing a horse to win from the rear . . .
