After the 5 days of splendour that is Royal Ascot, racing comes down to earth with a bump.
Flat racing fixtures at Beverley and Brighton will not involve the purchase of too much champagne. And pretty hats will not be in abundance.
There's nothing racing down by the Sussex seaside to make me want to buy so much as some candy floss, so I turn my attention to an evening meeting at Newbury.
