So often this past jumps season the best racing National Hunt racing has been staged in Ireland. They love their racing and the racing crowd is a knowledgeable one. Irish racing does not seem to be suffering from the reduction in the breeding of thoroughbred racehorses, as is the case in the UK.

I forget the precise percentage now, but there are significantly fewer racehorses being bred in England than was the case as recently as five years ago. No such problem in Ireland, where breeding horses to race is second nature, and not totally governed by the quantity of . . .
