If you watched the three part BBC series called Britain at the Bookies you may have gone away thinking all punters are mugs, idiots or people not playing life with a full deck of cards.
It was a terrible piece of television, I thought. It was a great and free advert for the bookmaker Coral. I expect the most often used phrase in their boardroom will be: “Any publicity is good publicity.”
I don’t believe in that mantra myself. But it is so often used in management circles and I am willing to bet that’s what the Coral . . .
