There are many true sayings when it comes to betting on racing.
Don't chase your losses, Try not to change your mind. Stop betting if you're no longer enjoying the challenge and... sometimes your first instinct is your best bet.
That last one applied to me on Saturday, in two particular races. On first looking at the racecards for the 3.45 at Chepstow, I fancied a former winner of ours, Arpege D'Alene. And for the big field race at Kempton my eyes were first attracted to the always there or thereabouts - but . . .
