While we punters can often be guilty of moaning about near misses or the winner we were going to back but changed our mind about; the bookies can often be heard crying the poor tale regardless of how many favourites get beat on one day of racing.
I heard a bookie bemoaning his takings before the final two races on Wednesday. His satchel should have been bulging after well backed favourites such as Integral and Ivawood were beaten.
If a bookie is not in the money when horses priced at 25/1 and 14/1 win big races, then perhaps . . .
