Bank Holiday Monday racing. For many years, a day I avoided like the plague.
Bank Holiday racing exists to attract people to racecourses who do not attend the rest of the year. That's all fine.
But what it also means is that they are days when trainers send their lesser horses to compete up and down the country in the hope, more than the expectation, of picking up a little prize money. Most trainers know that such meetings are only any good for giving their second, third or fourth division horses a run, often only to appease the owners . . .
