The Grand National is over for another year. I thought the race was a good one. No everyone agrees, I know.
Some people think it has become too "safe" but, personally speaking, I am delighted that all horses came home safely, for the second consecutive year.
Getting the balance between making the race a spectacle and reducing the risk of fatalities is not an easy task. But the changes made to the start and the fences two years ago seems to be paying off.
Never forget, horses can die in any ordinary jumps race. And, sadly, even when racing on . . .
