The end of the week before the Cheltenham Festival offers up some decent racing, especially on Saturday.
The minds of many a trainer are focussed on next week, but if you want to win prize money and pay the bills, then you have to look everywhere these days. After all, the racing at Cheltenham is so competitive that only a lucky few trainers and owners will make money between Tuesday and Friday of next week.
So it is that some of the lesser thoroughbreds are sent out to race on Friday. I concentrate on the jumps meetings up at Ayr . . .
