French Navy won for us and was value at SP winning odds of 3/1. I was surprised that winner came home at such a price. I anticipated smaller returns.
Blue Buttons also returned profit when placed third at 10/1.
But, overall, the Newmarket Craven meeting delivered more surprises. Some favourites, or well fancied runners, were beaten by horses at double figure prices.
For the second day running, I'm not sure there is a great deal to take out of the meeting when it comes to projecting forward to big races later in the flat season.
