If your doctor tells you something is wrong, you may opt for a second opinion. No harm in that.
The same applies when it comes to punting. Racing is all about opinions and there is no harm in listening to the views of others who watch racing daily and know their stuff. You don’t have to agree with them, indeed you shouldn’t all the time, but where opinions align, perhaps that is the time to sit up and take notice.
I tell everyone about fellow punters on Twitter who offer their opinions and tips for free, as I once did prior to making VG Tips a much more all encompassing service than it was back in the 90’s. You should follow on Twitter wise punters such as @Kris1179 for his view of racing. There are a handful of people whose opinion I trust. I’m always interested in what they have to say about racing. I may disagree with their own selections some days, but agree with them at other times. Please follow me on Twitter @betonsportstips
Paul Kealy ( @paulkealyRP ) and Tom Segal of the Racing Post have grown accustomed to taking criticism from punters when their tips lose. But you can’t be right all the time. The important thing when it comes to punting is to be right more often across 365 days than you are wrong. To finish the year ahead of the bookie, in profit, as I have done since 1998.
Segal and Kealy are good guys who spend their lives studying form every day, just like me. Those men are unlikely to be found sporting a suntan even during this very hot UK summer. That’s because they will be indoors, studying form and watching past races for clues going forward to the next feature race meeting. You can spot a dedicated punter and tipster by his pale pallor. Unless, of course, decades of profitable punting helped that punter achieve his mission to live overseas.
Glorious Goodwood begins today, Tuesday, in one of the most picturesque locations for racing of any you will find around the world. 4.88mm of rain fell overnight and the going is now classed as Good, Good to Soft in places.
Current members of VG Tips were sent my day one tips in four races today, ahead of that rainfall. Drying conditions are expected all day Tuesday with the temperatures rising as the week progresses. Click here to join VG Tips monthly or annually.
And if you want a second opinion, then here is the latest audio and visual broadcast from Racing Post TV via their YouTube channel. Tom Segal takes part and he has an interesting take on the third meeting of Torcedor and Stradivarius.
