What a tragic day of racing we had on Monday. The deaths of Darlan and Mujamead at Doncaster, and Desert Vision at Wolverhampton, reminded us of the tragic side to racing.
Punting becomes irrelevant on days like yesterday. And my heart goes out to the connections of the horses killed in action. Not just the owners, jockeys and trainers but especially the stable lads and lassies who love these horses. Who get up every day when it is still dark to look after them. And who find themselves with an empty stable the next day.
It is a horrible experience . . .
