Well that was crap!
A day when the rains came and the going at Doncaster went from Good to Good to Soft, Soft in places.
Horses were withdrawn and others found the going too tacky.
Not that the going was an excuse for the returning to racing Gatewood. Another furlong and Gatewood would have won but I am mystified as to why jockey William Buick produced him, and went for the whip, so late in the race. Too late as it turned out. Just.
The confidence of Richard Hughes regarding his ride on Expert was misplaced.
