The new National Hunt season proper gets underway soon enough and there’s a good jumps meeting at Chepstow on Saturday and Sunday this week.
Paul Nicholls has his string of horses ready to go and says he is more enthusiastic ahead of this season than he was a year or so ago.
It’s surprising to hear him say he almost gave up training at the end of last season.
He says: “I was fed up. I wasn’t enjoying what I was doing. I thought about doing something else. I don’t why I felt like that, I just did. It was a good job I had a good season last season in a lot of ways and now we are where we are it’s almost like a new chapter, we’ve started again.”
