11/2 and 5/1 winners for members of VG TIPS on Monday. Three selections in all and the 2 winners were great value.
Returning from almost two years away from racing, Bushcraft blew away the cobwebs and won at an SP price of 3/1. But when members were advised the night before racing, Ladbrokes offered 5/1 and other bookies 9/2. I took the early price.
And we benefitted the other way around when, mysteriously, the price for Tombelaine to win a competitive heat at the Curragh drifted out to 11/2 before the off. Quite why a horse that got within three quarters of a length of Gleneagles (another winning tip for members last Saturday) was not fancied in the market, I do not know.
But I love it when that happens. As long as you bet with one of the many bookies offering Best price Guaranteed, your return was greater than when you placed your bet on Sunday night or earlier on Monday.
11/2 was an excellent SP price for Tombelaine.
There were three selections for members of VG TIPS on Monday. The shortest price one was Found. The price of that one drifted from 4/5 when selected out to 6/5 before the off. With half a length or so to go, and Ryan Moore riding Found clear of the field, I smiled and thought it was going to be three winners from three tips on Monday.
Then, almost from nowhere, the 25/1 outsider of the field of 6 pounced late on to ensure Found lost!
Never mind. As with Saturday, another profitable day of punting already in May.
The next selections for members will be for racing on Wednesday, including the Chester Festival. They will be available on Tuesday night. If you are not already a member of VG TIPS, come join now. You will be most welcome.
