The club continues to work hard improving its image in the wider footballing world. On the financial front, it has been one of the more sensibly run clubs in recent years. More prudent than profligate.
Now owned by an American and managed by one of the more grounded football managers around, Kenny Jackett, Millwall is a football club living within its means. That is one of the aspects of the club that attracted writer Mike Calvin.
For 30 years a Watford supporter, Mike spent many months watching daily life at The Den and became so enamoured with how Millwall went about their business, he found himself cheering for Millwall when they played Watford.
How can this be? Is it ever acceptable for an adult to change the team they support? And what was so special about the workings of Millwall football club that has resulted in Mike Calvin following his new club to Wembley.
Watch my interview with Mike Calvin. Thereafter, buy his engrossing book which taught me a few things about how lower league clubs survive in this day and age.[symple_heading type=”h3″ title=”William Hill are offering new customers a £25 free bet when they sign up” margin_top=”2px;” margin_bottom=”5px” text_align=”left”] Interested?
