Manchester City won the Premier League by two points from second placed Liverpool.
A 2-0 home win against West Ham United secured the title for manager Manuel Pellegrini and the team he united after a poor start to the season.
It’s not so long since Liverpool were six points ahead of Manchester City. But defeat at home to Chelsea, and letting a three goal lead slip at Crystal Palace, cost Liverpool the title.
I’m pleased for Pellegrini. Many UK football watchers questioned his appointment and even Man City fans had their doubts. They need only have asked Real Madrid fans what they thought of Pellegrini. They objected strongly to how Real Madrid owners treated Pellegrini when he was manager of the La Liga club.
He is a class act.
After the match, he spoke to my former Sky Sports colleague Ed Chamberlain.
