Frankie Dettori has spoken following his 6 month ban for failing a drugs test in France.
Dettori says he regrets: “one night of madness.”
The jockey continued: “I am ashamed for myself and my family. I have let down myself, my family and the sport I love and all those associated with it as well as the public.
“I was in a bad place for three or four months but I am not a paedophile, I haven’t killed anyone and I am not going to prison.
“I felt like I wasn’t flavour of the month (at Godolphin), like the love had gone and it was one night of madness with my friends. I got caught and I paid the price but I feel terrible for my wife and children.
“I am a proud person, so the sadness of leaving my position and moving on will stay with me forever.
“I’ve definitely got a point to prove when I come back to ride and I’m certainly not ready to put the slippers on just yet.”
