I saw a tweet yesterday showing the five goals from a classic match of the 70's between Derby County and Leeds United. Played on a mudbath of a pitch, I remembered the game and even some of David Coleman's match commentary. Proper football, as I would call it. Plenty of incident, some good scrapping between players, little or no play acting, a ref not showing a red card for a hard but fair tackle and goals not disallowed because the big toe of the goalscorer was just offside.
Would I love football to return to the game I . . .
