Vinnie The Fish – Brendan Powell (Southwell, 4th Sept)

Has improved enormously for a step up in trip on his last two runs and showed his Worcester run was no fluke with a decisive win here, looking the likely winner from a long way out. Travelled very well and the further they went, the better he looked. Well worth a go in better company next time out (note – has two engagements this weekend, at Fontwell and Hexham)

Moon Trip – John Ferguson (Huntingdon, 9th Sept)

Looked quality in the paddock and showed he’s going the right way, jumping better as the contest went on, and travelled up to the more experienced winner Koultas King very easily before fading late on. This was a major improvement from his Market Rasen run and further improvement will see him winning a novice hurdle in the next month.

Western Way – Don Cantillon (Huntingdon, 9th Sept)

Had shown promise despite running very green on more than one occasion previously, but was transformed by headgear here, travelling well and disposing of previous good winner Handmaid with ease. Will be very difficult to beat in early season novice hurdles on this showing, but remember, the headgear is key.

Germany Calling – Charlie Longsden (Worcester, 27th Sept)

Looked very well in the paddock but the race never panned out for him. Held up off a slow pace he was then caught out as the pace lifted at the 2f pole. Stayed on very well all the way to the line and will be better suited by a quicker run race and quite possibly a step up in trip. More than capable of taking a NH Flat race on this showing regardless.

Wings Of Smoke – Tim Vaughan (Worcester, 27th Sept)

Didn’t look 100% fit in the paddock, looked like a run would bring him on, and that was reflected in the race. Travelled nicely behind the pace but got tired when asked for his effort at the last. Had a good blow post-race, and will strip fitter next time out.

Kyle’s Faith – Martin Keighley (Worcester, 27th Sept)

He looked like a horse with a future in the paddock and a chaser in the making, but this run wasn’t without promise. Held up off the pace, he made a bit of ground turning for home but then got outpaced before staying on again late in the day. Had already shown promise in bumpers and could pop up at a decent price.

We’d like to thank Mr. David Massey aka @chutneydave for providing his eyecatchers and ones to follow list over the past three months, but all good things have to end.

Well they don’t have to.
