I’ve been granted rare, behind the scenes access to Channel 4 Racing as they televise live racing from Newbury and Sandown.

It’s three years since the production company IMG won the contract to produce racing on Channel 4. Executive Producer Carl Hicks granted me permission to film a week in the life of Channel 4 Racing and I have produced four on camera reports with the team.

I film an edition of the Morning Line from the production gallery, the production meetings during which the content of the show is planned, I interview presenters Nick Luck and Rishi Persad, producers Carl Hicks and Sophie Veats and the programme director Denise Large.

In the first report I join camera operator Adrian Camm on the muddy course at Newbury as he films commentator Simon Holt and Emma Spencer discuss the conditions underfoot.

These fascinating behind the scenes on camera reports give you an insight into what goes in to producing hours and hours of live televised racing throughout the year.

As part of the new VG TIPS service, members only will get to see the filmed reports first and in full. Only after they have seen them will everyone get to view edited versions of those films.
