  • First off, very well done to Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Six months ago, who among us would have predicted the Champions League and Europa League finals to be made up only of English clubs? For those of us who lived through the era when English teams were banned from playing in Europe, and thereafter took years to play catch up with their European opponents, it's close to being a miracle.

But, please, save me from all this flag waving. Remind me. How many English players are first choice players for those four clubs? Indeed, how many British born . . .

  • At the time of writing, the Premier League title remains alive. Manchester City play tonight, at home against a Leicester City side managed by former Liverpool manager, Brendan Rodgers.

If Manchester City win, they go back to the top of the Premier League with a point advantage over Liverpool and with only one match for each team left to play on the final day of the season, next Sunday.

Should Liverpool miss out on the title having lost only one game so far, they are sure to feel disappointed. Manchester City have scored 90 gaols prior to this evening, Liverpool . . .

  • While the Europa League may yet produce a final between two Premier League clubs, Arsenal and Chelsea, the future of Tottenham and Liverpool in the more high profile Champions League, hangs by a thread.

Liverpool huffed and puffed in Catalonia but they didn’t blown the Barcelona house down. So many supporters of the Premier League are forever praising teams who put pressure on opposition, how much high energy they display in matches. But it’s still goals that win football matches and three from Barcelona, including one of the best free kicks of all time, leave Liverpool requiring a . . .

  • Last weekend saw us win with single bets on Ayoze Perez to score for Newcastle at odds of 3/1, Mo Salah to score any time for Liverpool at odds of 1/2, West Brom to beat Rotherham at 4/6 and by punting on two draws. The game between Leeds and Aston Villa at a good price of 3/1 and the stalemate between Sunderland and Portsmouth at odds of 5/2. I've sent Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa a fiver as thanks for literally allowing Villa to score!

In the constant battle between the cash rich, greedy Premier . . .

  • Manchester City march on towards the Premier League title. Now only Burnley, Leicester or Brighton can stop them. Liverpool supporters can hope that their former manager, Brendan Rodgers, can motivate his Leicester City players to take a point from City. Trouble is, City are at home for that game.

Manchester United did not put up a fight on Wednesday night. It's clear to me that the majority of the United players have turned it in for the season. They could not care less if the club finishes fourth. Some already have their agents working on the next move. Others . . .

  • The wheels appear to have come off again at Manchester United. The honeymoon period for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is well and truly over. Players like Paul Pogba have reverted to their 'couldn't care less' frame of mind. I suspect he'll be off to Real Madrid before long.

United look to be missing out on a top four finish and must up their game if they are to get anything from the Manchester derby game at Old Trafford in midweek. City need to win to get back to the top of the table after Liverpool's win at Cardiff . . .

  • The Champions League semi-finals have all the promise of being cracking games.

Tottenham up against the young, talented Ajax side should be an enthralling two legs. Spurs came out on top against Manchester City in an eight goal thriller in midweek and have earned their place in the semi-finals.

Liverpool against Barcelona is a semi-final to whet the appetite. I still think Liverpool could get the better of Barcelona. It's good for them that the first leg is in Spain. For all Barcelona do not appear to lose at home in the Champions League, if Liverpool . . .

  • So the midweek NAP bet paid out at odds of 21/10. Although the scoreline at Old Trafford read only 0-1 to Barcelona, it was a fairly one sided match. 21/10 was value for a Barcelona win and you would expect them to win again, this time with a bigger scoreline, in the second leg on home soil on April 16th.

The 7/2 I have mentioned more than once for Barca to win the Champions League has gone. They have now taken over favouritism in the betting market from Manchester City. The bookies have Barcelona at 5 . . .

  • The winning football tips last weekend were:- Jamie Vardy to score anytime at odds of 13/10, Leicester City to win the same game at 8/11, Doncaster Rovers at 23/20, Portsmouth at 11/10, Sunderland at 5/6, Norwich at 4/9 and the draw at 90 minutes in the FA Cup semi-final between Watford and Wolves, which paid out at odds of 23/10.

Of all clubs, it was Luton Town who let down the 11/1 four League 1 teams to win accumulator. The runaway leaders of that division had a player sent off and . . .

  • I've long believed use of the word "pressure" as it applies to football is misplaced.

Pressure belongs to those saving lives. Surgeons, doctors, nurses. Not football managers. Sorry, but the likes of Neil Warnock need to get things in perspective. He lost his rag last weekend when his Cardiff City were on the receiving end of a bad decision. Chelsea players were clearly offside for their equalising goal. Terrible error by the linesman who said his line of vision was blocked by a Chelsea player.

Warnock failed to mention how his side benefited from a penalty that never was . . .
