A hugely competitive day of racing on Saturday and our big win was on Art Scholar. Winner of the Betfred November Handicap at Doncaster at an SP price of 20-1.
Selected as an each way bet in the race I pointed up the clues as to why I fancied this one in my daily e-mail to subscribers.
Franny Norton was in the saddle, which was a bonus. He stood in for the unwell Daryll Holland. Norton has had a good flat season and can always be relied upon.
I told members this regarding why I fancied the eventual winner:- “Art Scholar has been second behind two of the opponents in this race but is today better off at the weights when set against each of them. He is 7 pounds better off than when the favourite in this race, First Mohican, beat him by over three lengths in mid October.
“And 4 pounds better off than when beaten by the reopposing Party Line also last month. Party Line came out on top that day, over this course and distance, by a length and a half. So there is a good case for saying that Art Scholar could reverse placings with either of those two.”
And so it proved and at a very nice price.
