Members of VG TIPS were delivered 8 winning racing tips on Saturday and many of them made lots of money. 8 winners in one day is by no means a first. It is not even a record in one day. But, on a day when racing was so competitive, this was a splendid day of punting for my lovely, loyal members.
I had a feeling it would be a good day. There was plenty of racing, but I made selections in only twelve races.[symple_heading type=”h3″ title=”The Magnificent Seven plus one” margin_top=”10px;” margin_bottom=”10px” text_align=”left”]The profitable punts today, at prices available when selected for members or the SP (whichever was the greater) were:- Winners – Azorian 11-4, Barakilla 5-2, Godsmejudge 6-4, Boston Bob 6-4, Sir Des Champ 11-8, Chatterbox 5-4, Unioniste 4-5, Silviniaco Conti 8-11.
And Each Way placed profit on Araldur at 18-1
There were lots of quality horses racing today. Including two I have had my eye on for months with a view to the Cheltenham Gold Cup. I placed Silviniaco Conti and Sir Des Champs in a win double. On opposites sides of the Irish Sea they both won and won well. The odds for them to win the Gold Cup shortened a little as a result.
Some punters out there think you have not done well unless you tip up a 50-1 winner. But, I ask you, how often do they come around? And there were unlikely to be any massive priced winners on a day like Saturday, when some of the best jumps horses in the country were in action.[symple_heading type=”h3″ title=”There are many ways you can bash the bookmaker” margin_top=”20px;” margin_bottom=”20px” text_align=”left”]Many of the winners today were short odds against, or odds on, when they came past the winning post. But, in my opinion, they still represented value in the betting market. Some horses you wouldn’t back with stolen money when the bookies have them priced at 4-6 or 8-11.
But I had no doubt that the Paul Nicholls trained Silviniaco Conti was value at such prices. He was up against inferior opposition and the chief danger, The Giant Bolster, he had beaten last November.
I was delighted to see Sir Des Champs jump much better today in Ireland and finally beat the very good Flemenstar. That turning of the tables has been a while coming but I fancy Sir Des Champs will perform better at Cheltenham in March. In their respective races that is. I think connections of Flemenstar would be crazy to race him in the Gold Cup after today’s defeat. And, remember, Flemenstar does not like travelling outside of Ireland for his racing.
Azorian, at 11-4, was our last winner of the day. Ridden by the admirable Nina Carberry, this was another winning tip from me at Leopardstown.
Unioniste was another winner for us and trainer Paul Nicholls at Newbury, though a photo finish was required to confirm that one had hung on to victory.[symple_heading type=”h3″ title=”VG Tips Member Shane Spanks the Bookies” margin_top=”20px;” margin_bottom=”20px” text_align=”left”]
[symple_heading type=”h3″ title=”Hats Off” margin_top=”10px;” margin_bottom=”10px” text_align=”left”]I try not to get members to tell me how much they win with my tips on any given day. I’m old fashioned. I think it is their business and not mine. But I doff my cap to member Shane who was bold today and placed a four fold bet for four of my tips to all win. As you can see from his bet slip in the photo, they did just that and delivered him a winning accumulator at odds of 23-1. Nice one Shane. Well done!
How you bet and how much you bet with is up to you. Only bet according to your means and never bet with sums you cannot afford to lose. For all punters have losers as well as winners. The key to profitable punter is to make sure that, over the period of a year, the winners outnumber the losers. And that is the service I offer at VG TIPS.
[symple_heading type=”h4″ title=”It does not matter if you bet with pennies or pounds. It only matters that you make a profit overall.” margin_top=”10px;” margin_bottom=”10px” text_align=”left”]It does not matter if you bet with pennies or pounds. It only matters that you make a profit overall.
Look upon profitable punting as an additional income. You are not going to be a millionaire overnight. You are not going to be able to tell your boss to “stick your job” on Monday morning.
But, if you are careful and clever – not careless and greedy – you can make an annual income from betting on horse racing and/or football. I know. I have done so since 1998.
And days like today, super Saturday, play a big part in such annual success.
