A 7/1 away day winning double bet paid out for myself and some members of VG Tips members when West Brom won at Reading and Preston North End won at Stoke in February.
I’m always keen to play a big priced accumulator comprising anything up to seven teams to win. But it’s often when you reduce an acca to four teams, or have a bet on a double, that you make profit.
As I am fond of telling VGTips members, football punters should look upon accumulators as fun bets. If you played one acca every week of the season – and I don’t – then you will lose more often than you win, obviously. But when you do win a double figure price acca, it will pay out so big that you’ll be in the money. You only need to win three or four big paying accas a season to make a profit over the course of the football season on accumulators alone. Then you have the multitude of single bet possibilities.
The Valentine’s Day weekend included several winning football tips for VG Tips subscribers.
It began well on Friday when top of Scottish League 1 Raith Rovers caused something of a cup upset by winning at bottom of the Championship Partick Thistle. My Scottish football tipster Robert Ryan alerted members to Raith being available at odds of 3/1 to win. I took that price. He tipped both teams to score at odds of 4/6. The match ended 1-2.
Both teams to score (BTTS) is a popular bet and Robert had two more such winning bets in Scotland. Hearts v Hamilton at 10/11 and Cove v Edinburgh at 5/6.
On Saturday some games were called off north of the border due to Storm Dennis. In England, meanwhile, I tipped wins for Grimsby Town at 11/10, Salford City at 5/4, Coventry City at 4/5 (NAP), Blackburn Rovers at 8/11 and Portsmouth at 8/13.
The winning weekend culminated in a comfortable home win for Arsenal at odds of 4/9, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score anytime at odds of 5/7. His was the first of four second half goals that saw Arsenal beat Newcastle United.
So another profitable few days of punting for those who, like me, enjoy betting on football.
