In most divisions, it seems, anyone can beat anyone. Or, if you are Manchester United, it seems almost anyone can beat you! (Sorry, couldn’t resist).
So finding winning accumulators has been a tough call this season. Members of VG Tips had a few winning accas early in the season, but the last few weeks have seen us lose out on accumulators by margins large and small.
The painful one being a magnificent 7 that went down at odds of 49/1 only when the highest scoring team in League 2 forgot how to score.
But this weekend my away day treble did return for members at odds of 20/1. Wigan, Brentford and Liverpool all won and so I found myself receiving £210 for my £10 stake. Other members were also on. Well done. Let’s pat ourselves on the back and shout it from the rooftops. We have earned it.
Of course, traditionally, placing Liverpool in an accumulator has been something only a madman would consider. Just when you think you have Liverpool sussed, they go and do something stupid.
But I was as confident as I could be that they would go to Old Trafford and return home with all three points. Let’s face it, Man Utd cannot even beat Fulham these days so a full of confidence Liverpool side were always likely to come out on top at a best price of 19/10.
Man Utd manager David Moyes, perhaps unwisely, admitted to the press that the job was more difficult than he anticipated. It remains to be seen if he is still in that job come August.
Personally, right now, I wouldn’t put money on it.
