ST MARK’S BASILICA won for members of VG Tips. One week after I tipped him to do so.
The Aidan O’Brien trained soft ground loving colt had been selected by me when the two year old was due to race in France the previous weekend. That was the Arc meeting for which all O’Brien runners had to be withdrawn.
But patience is the best friend of a profitable punter and I couldn’t quite believe it when, on Friday, St Mark’s Basilica was as big as 16/1 for the high profile Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday. A spare ride for Frankie Dettori, the colt had to be my each way pick for my lovely and loyal members. 14/1 was on offer in the moments before the race began. St Mark’s Basilica came past the post first, in front of stablemate Wembley, at SP odds of 10/1.
Dettori confirmed that St Mark’s Basilica will be fine racing over further in the future and bookies reacted to the Dewhurst victory by slashing his price for next year’s 2000 Guineas.
One of the longest serving members of VG Tips, Ian tweeted me @betonsportstips to say: “Fantastic tipping today. Very well done indeed.”
He was my second selection at Newmarket on Saturday. The first, ONE RULER, had earlier won the Group 3 Autumn Stakes for VG Tips members at odds of 5/1. I was impressed with that Godolphin owned winner and would not be surprised should the colt land a big prize in 2021.
GREAT WHITE SHARK, an 8/1 tip to subscribers on Friday, won the 34 runner Cesarewitch Handicap – a race I have a good record in. The third race for which I offered selections at Newmarket on Saturday. The third winner for myself and those signed up to VG Tips.
The Willie Mullins trained grey was a confident selection to win the big field handicap. Nicely drawn in stall 20, the mare produced a superb late charge to win going away and by a good distance from the chasing pack.
Member of VG Tips Alun used my three Newmarket winners in the below multiple bet and just look at his returns!
