The English weather has been the chief enemy of punters during this so called British summer.
The heavens opened at York late on Wednesday morning and, within the blink of an eye, the official ground conditions altered from Good to Firm, Good in Places right through to Good to Soft, Soft in places. It was one of the fastest changes I have ever witnessed.
I knew rain was expected at York on Wednesday and I told members of VG Tips that the Met Office had forecast rainfall. But I don't think anyone expected the deluge of rain that fell . . .
