He’s back! Geoff Banks the bookie speaks out… again!
As one year turns into another, those who care about the future of racing are wondering how the sport can raise its profile.
While the record attendance at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day was a sight to behold, we all know that for much of the racing year racecourses are poorly attended because to often they play host to some terrible, low grade race meetings. It’s a problem those at the head of the sport seem reluctant to address.
In part 2 of my annual conversation with the independent bookmaker Geoff Banks, he pleads for racing to up its game.
Geoff also debates what is a fair levy for the off shore bookmakers, the viewing figures for racing on Channel 4, the cost of owning a racehorse and much more.
